Organist’s space: events, organ travels and player stories

RCO Academy – “Set Your Sights” 2 April 2016

RCO Academy Set Your Sights 2 April 2016

As you well know we support the RCO and like to keep you, our readers, informed when there are events, programmes or activities they hold that will be of interest for you.

This one is for young organists. Join the RCO Academy team in Oxford on Saturday 2 April 2016.

The programme is called: “SET YOUR SIGHTS!” and is aimed at giving a young organist a flavour of the organ scholar experience, plus a chance to make friends in advance of their summer-school in Cambridge.

What is it?

It is a one day programme for teenage organists aiming for an organ scholarship at University or Cathedral.

Where is it?

It will be based at Hertford College, in Oxford.

What does it entail?

  • The attendees will get to play their pieces to Sarah Baldock.
  • Matthew Martin will help the attendees sing, accompany, and conduct Choral Evensong at Hertford College
  • James Parsons fettles the attendees essential keyboard skills

You can find out more, or book online (and receive the Choral repertoire for Matthew’s session for FREE) by clicking here.

I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
