Organ Recital at Merrylea Parish Church 18 October

Organ Recital 18 October 2015 - Merrylea Church

The next recital at Merrylea Parish Church is going to be on Sunday 18th October  2015. Peter Christie will be playing a programme to the theme of “A trip to France”.

The church is in the heart of the south side of Glasgow and serves the communities of Newlands, Merrylee, Giffnock and Cathcart. Admission for the recital is free, however a retiring offering will be gratefully received in aid of The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice ‘Brick by Brick’ Appeal. (Scottish Charity Registration No. SC004016)

The recital will begin at 2:30pm and will run for 45 to 50 minutes.

The recital programme will include the following:

1) Trumpet Tune (from the Te Deum) Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634-1704) Arr. Hesford

2) Noel – Grand Jeux et Duo Louis-Claude D’Aquin (1694-1772)

3) La Nativité du Seigneur: Desseins Éternels (1935) Olivier Messaien (1908-1992)

4) Pièce Héroïque (1878) César Franck (1822-1890)

5) Sortie in Bb (1867) Louis JA Lefébure-Wély (1817-1869)

6) Symphonie No 5 (1879) Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937)
