I play a Prestige 60 that drives Hauptwerk organs. I have read David Mason's piece on how to switch off stops on a Viscount organ but, unfortunately the method does not cover couplers. I link the couplers on the Prestige. S/G, G/P & S/P, to whatever virtual organ I'm playing. So pressing S/G on the Prestige operates S/G on the virtual organ. This is obviously very convenient in action, but there is a snag - present with whatever organ I am playing.
Suppose I press a key on the Great (with the Swell coupled) and, while holding down the key, press the same key on the Swell. If I then release the key on the Great, I find the Swell has gone dead. In other words, MIDI Off on the Great also operates on the Swell. There are circumstances in which this is a particular nuisance, as you can imagine. The problem does not arise if I only use the S/G stop on the virtual organ without it sending the message back to the Prestige. It's pressing the coupler on the Viscount that produces the problem. Similar problems occur with G/P and S/P.
Is this a solvable problem or something one just has to live with?
