Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Poringland August 2013
The lovely church in Poringland took delivery of a light oak Envoy 35-F from Cookes Pianos & Organs of Norwich. The church in Poringland has a particularly tranquil and contemporary interior. It was important that the organ installation should fit comfortably and unobtrusively into the space. The console chosen was in a light oak finish with minimal woodwork detailing. A clear perspex music desk also reduced the visual impact of the console.
4 speakers were positioned either side of the semi circular window on the west end wall with a bass speaker, also in plain light oak on the floor immediately below the window. The speakers are a little difficult so see in this photograph which is exactly what we set out to achieve.
Rev Mark Hackeson, Parish PriestThe Catholic Parish Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Poringland had been struggling with an unreliable electronic organ that was inadequate for our expanding church and growing congregation. Steven Battle from Cookes Pianos visited us on several occasions to discuss our needs and recommend various instruments. With Steven’s guidance we chose a Viscount Envoy 35-F organ. This was expertly installed with powerful yet discreet speakers in August 2013. The transformation in the sound has given pleasure to all and truly enhanced our musical liturgy. The organists are still discovering the range and full flexibility of the instrument.
Cookes Pianos’ price was competitive and it would be impossible to find fault with the quality of the service that they gave us in planning, fitting and voicing of the organ. We would not hesitate to recommend them to other churches, and indeed have already done so
