Key not working (2 replies and 2 comments)
Hi there Austin. I experienced a similar problem and found that a fine jet of compressed air applied to the sides and underside of the key resolved the issue. I used a product in a small can that is often referred to as something like 'air duster', available at office-supply stores (like Rymans @ about £8), and sold for cleaning computer keyboards and computer innards. This will likely clear any dust or dirt affecting the key, if that is the problem. NB Using an eraser on pencilled music-edits at the console often generates pesky particles that work between and under the keys ... and interrupt the working.
Thanks. That worked. We now have the F# back again. We used a bicycle pump and a biro case! Will get the instrument properly serviced in the new year. Thanks for your help.
Hi Austin,
You probably need a new key contact as the issue is intermittent. Unfortunately, our engineers are tied up now all the way to Christmas but on the dealer page you will find contact details for independent local engineers. See https://viscountorgans.net/dealers/
Even if they do not have a new contact they should be able to move the offending one to top C where it will be far less irritating.
Regards David
Thanks David. We managed to get the key working, but will definitely get the instrument properly serviced in the new year.
Back to Viscount Organs Forum...
Our church has a Viscount Prestige 20/40 organ. last night the F# key below middle C on the Great Manual stopped working ( or sometimes works if you hold it down long enough). Does anyone know someone in the vicinity of Reigate, Surrey who would be able to fix this, or alternatively talk us through how to fix it. We have a lot of Christmas services coming up starting this Sunday (19/11/2021) and would be most grateful for a fully working organ.
Thanks
Austin
