Rescue for Viscount Classic 4500 MIDI (2 replies and 1 comment)
On my newer CLV8 there are stop tabs that enable midi transmission. Perhaps there are tabs or pistons on your console that you need to activate
thank you - unfortunately no. I have seen some of these instruments, but mine doesn´t have any switches like that. I added a picture of the instrument

Back to Viscount Organs Forum...
Hello all,
I recently purchased a used Viscount Classic 4500 organ in very good condition to use it as MIDI controller for my PC. Unfortunately, the MIDI sockets don´t work - no matter what cable I use, I get no signal on my PC, iPad, MIDI listener software etc. The sockets literally seem to be dead (while the headphone jack right next to them is working).
I think I have two options: Let a technician check the instrument or build my own setup with new parts. What do you guys think - is there any chance a technician is able to repair/restore the MIDI connection? From what I can tell, the hardware generally is in good condition, nothing conspicuous or damaged in the organ case.
And there is the myth, that on old Viscounts, MIDI generally could be defective and one would need a new mainboard (Viscount already told me, there are no parts left for such old instruments).
Any help or recommendation on further steps highly appreciated!
Thank you
Markus
