Hello,
There is no reason to expect 'odd things' after 10 years on the organ and you will be able to restore the correct voice for the Gt trumpet using the voices function in the display. The display also allows you to set the organs midi transmission channels and in all probability you need to look at the settings there and ensure that the stops and couplers are set to transmit midi code. I am not familiar with organ assist but it is just possible that it can not read the code being sent as there is no 'standard' channel setting for some midi information and manufacturers do use different channels. I have asked a more porficient midi colleague to add some information for you that might help. Regards David
Thank you for your prompt reply. I have been on the voices function of the display and the choices it gives me are 1 horn stop and two trumpets, which have always been three of the choices, but the forth, Tuba, has now been changed to a 16ft Fagotto which I cannot seem to be able to change. I have re-installed the factory settings but the Fagotto keeps coming back(?)
Also, I quite understand that midi is a dark art and I do not fully understand the settings that the filters need to be on to facilitate the exchange of the required information, I hope that your colleague can indeed throw some light. Many thanks once again. Tony
Hi Again, Have you had any luck getting any further information regarding the settings regarding the midi channels for my Vivace 90, also the Tuba/Fagotto issue?
Back to Viscount Organs Forum...
I have a Vivace 90 which I purchased about 10 years ago from Promenade Music and I have nothing but praise for both instrument and retailer in all that time. However, I recently downloaded the programme 'OrganAssist' on the advice of organist colleagues who use it successfully with other organs, and I can't get it to pick up the midi codes for all of the stops and couplers of the Vivace. On top of this, the display screen on the organ has started to look a bit grainy, and one of the alternative voices of the great trumpet has bcome a 16ft Fagotto. Has the programme somehow upset the organ. or is 10 years about the time-span in which I can expect odd things to happen? I would appreciate any advice that is out there in Viscount World.
