Leicester MusicFest was founded in 2016 by a team of professional musicians and teachers who wanted to create more high-quality and accessible performance opportunities for young people and amateur musicians in Leicester.
At each festival over 200 musicians take part in a varied programme including concerts, educational workshops and competitions in piano, singing, pipe organ, classical guitar and composition.
Each year they strive to further their reach within Leicester and further afield by running community-based outreach projects involving children and staff from local schools, and universities.
Leicester MusicFest – Organ Competitions
As with many arts organisations, Leicester MusicFest have had to face new challenges over the last year As a result of the Covid-19 restrictions, the 2021 festival was held exclusively online. The planned events were able to go online, with hundreds of people tuning in to watch performances, join masterclasses and take part in the competitions.
Due to the lack of access to churches and schools, the organ competitions (online) were postponed to Saturday 29th May 2021. Entry deadline is now midnight Saturday 22nd May.
The RCO is sponsoring the competition for the fourth year running.

I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
