The RSCM produces guidance on fees and remuneration of Church Musicians. They now invite you to take part to help refresh and overhaul this work.
The purpose of this survey is to inform updated guidance on church musicians’ fees to be issued by the RSCM, often known as “RSCM rates”. Church music is of course a mix of voluntary and professional, and survey responses are invited from anywhere in the UK which has music in worship, from any Christian denomination.
If your worship doesn’t have much music, or if no salaries, honoraria or fees are paid to musicians, then the survey will be very quick indeed to complete, but will nevertheless provide useful contextual information. If there is more music in your worship, some of it professionally performed, then the survey may take up to 10 minutes to complete.
Each survey response should be for a place of worship, rather for an individual who may work across several places. The survey can be completed by anyone with a good knowledge of both the worship and of any payments made to church musicians in their place of worship. In order to complete the survey speedily and accurately, it may help to have your organisation’s schedule of fees to hand before you start.
The RSCM will produce a summary of the findings together with guidance which will be made available to RSCM members only. Those completing the survey who are not RSCM members will be given an opportunity to sign up for temporary FREE membership of the RSCM, so that you can read the results of the survey.
Closing date for responses: Monday 25th November.

I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
