Early on the morning of Friday November 13th (in 2015) we received an e-mail (9.30am) from a church asking if they could hire an organ, as their magnificent Rieger organ blower had failed. By 10.30 that morning we had offered the church 2 options and we had an agreement to supply but without commitment to make it available for the following Sunday service.
Later that morning we reviewed our options and with the help of our small but dedicated team we made a plan to get the hire organ, our Envoy 35-F, installed on Sunday morning in time for the 11.00am service.
It was a close call but the installation was achieved in the nick of time.
Happily the organ builders also did a great job repairing the blower in a little less than 10 days so our organ was only needed to cover the one Sunday. Having the second instrument available the director of music Gavin Roberts planned the Langlais Mass for 2 organs. Unfortunately I could not attend but we were delighted to have been able to help out at short notice.
So perhaps there is now a 5th emergency service to call on if you need a replacement organ in a hurry!
I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
