We are delighted to have been invited to support this new calendar event in Londonderry on October 19th to the 21st 2017 run by the RCO with the objective of engaging young musicians with the joys of the organ.
The Guildhall Organ Festival is centred around the recently restored magnificent Hill, Norman & Beard pipe organ in the Guildhall.
We are being joined in this by two of our dealers. Jeffers Music of Bandon are bringing their 3 manual hire instrument to join in a battle of the organs in the Guildhall on Friday evening.
Local dealer Henderson Music is providing 3 Viscount practice instruments that will be available for students to use in The Guildhall throughout the event.
To help with long term teaching resources we will give a local school a Chorum 40 instrument. There is a small competition requiring the schools to set out their teaching resources and then write a short essay on how they will be able to put the donated instrument to best use. A small group of us will then decide which school has made the best case. The first time ever that I have be on the right side of marking an essay!
The Guildhall Organ Festival is being hosted by Catherine Ennis. Past president of the RCO and concert organist Daniel Moult
I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
