Join this Organ Recital and Presentation in the fabulous Christ Church Welshpool on Sunday 24th September 2017. James Parsons welcomes you to an afternoon of Organ Music to raise awareness of the 200 year old pipe organ and to launch the organ restoration appeal.
Christ Church in Welshpool
Christ Church Welshpool is the prominent Victorian Church set back at the top end of High Street. It is a redundant Victorian church that has become the life and love of Karl, Natalie and their three sons. The family have embarked on a lifelong restoration project, to create both a beautiful home and an atmospheric public space so all can share in this unique building and its heritage.
The pipe organ is over 200 years old, built by William Gray and is listed as an instrument of national historic importance. It is in need of a lot of TLC and a good dusting, but still manages to fill Christ Church with the most incredible sound!
Programme and Timings of Organ Concert
James parsons will play (and talk about) music by Handel, John Stanley, Bach, Mendelssohn, SS Wesley, Percy Whitlock, Peter Maxwell Davies and more. He will also hold a presentation to raise awareness for the remarkable pipe organ, and to launch an Appeal for its restoration.

Some more information about Christ Church Welshpool
Please visit their website for more information and history about the building, the large project and other events. Below are a couple of YouTube videos from opening day back in 2013 and some drone footage of the magnificent church.
Video above was shot during Open Day on Sunday 8th September 2013. Over 155 people attended and with two impromptu organ recitals there was a wonderful atmosphere. Here Mervyn Evans is playing the organ.
Video above is drone footage of Christchurch which is a beautiful church designed by Thomas Penson, the county surveyor for Montgomeryshire. He also designed other churches and a number of bridges in the county. The church is unusual in that it is Romanesque in design, as can be seen from the long nave, the transept and the apse.
I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
