Two spectacular events at St Mary’s Church in Wingham, Canterbury on the 17th and 18th of November 2017. Firstly an Organ Concert with Daniel Moult and then a chance for you to get hands on with the King of Instruments yourself at the Open Day. Two events that surely can’t be missed!
Organ Spectacular Concert with Daniel Moult
The Kent Organ School invites you to a special concert in St Mary’s Church Wingham near Canterbury, on Friday 17th November 2017 at 7.30pm. This is “An Organ Spectacular!” and will be hosted by the Kent Organ school, a very new initiative being launched at this Concert.
Daniel Moult, who is an exceptional organist, who plays around the world and made many recordings will be playing at the concert, which will feature three organs and three organists. He will be joined by Francis Murton, the Director of the Organ School and a student organist to play the church’s own fine pipe organ, a small chamber organ generously loaned by Canterbury Cathedral and an electronic touring organ, being provided by Viscount Classical Organs.
The concert will help to raise money to develop scholarship funds, to enable the Kent Organ School to support new organists around Kent, while the Saturday is aimed to enable potential new players to find out more and to take their first steps to becoming an organist.
Ticket to the event is £10 (including refreshments) and can be purchased through Eventbrite.
Discover the Organ Day
Come and spend Saturday 18th Nov 2017 in St Mary’s Church in Wingham discovering the pipe organ! There will be an opportunity to get hands on experience with three different organs.
The Kent Organ School, with the support of the Royal College of Organists presents an exciting day exploring the King of Instruments. With three organs to play, they will be joined by university and college students to support and answer questions.
Programme:
10.00 to 12.30pm – Open house session to explore the instruments, chat to fellow musicians and discover what it is to be an organist. While primarily aimed at students and those who don’t play, the morning is open to all and will be a great opportunity for experienced players and lovers of the organ to join us!
1pm Lunchtime – Concert performed by student organists.
2.00 to 4pm – The afternoon will be given over to demonstrations and opportunities to be hands on for all organists and non-organists alike! With tea and cakes available all day and an exhibition: an inspiring day!
