The Andrew Chamblin Fund
Dr Andrew Chamblin, an Old Member of Christ Church (1991), died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2006 at the very early age of 36.
Given Andrew’s own accomplishments as an organist and great appreciation of organ music, friends and relatives of Andrew joined together to commemorate his memory by forming the Andrew Chamblin Memorial Concert Fund. The intention is to fund an annual organ concert to be given in Christ Church Cathedral.
The inaugural Andrew Chamblin Memorial Concert took place in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford in 2007 and was given by Thomas Trotter.
If you’d like to find out more about the Andrew Chamblin Fund and make a donation then please visit the Christ Church website.
About the organist – Margaret Phillips
One of Britain’s outstanding concert organists and teachers, Margaret Phillips studied with the late Ralph Downes and Marie-Claire Alain.
Since 1996 she has been Professor of Organ at the Royal College of Music in London, and she is also much in demand throughout the UK and abroad as recitalist, teacher, masterclass tutor and international jury member.
Her numerous CDs, which include the complete organ works of Bach, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns and Stanley, have been highly praised. In 1994, Margaret Phillips and her late husband founded the English Organ School and Museum in former chapel premises in Milborne Port, Somerset, where they have a small collection of organs by English organ builders from the eighteenth century to the present day.

I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
