The Northampton and District Organists’ Association (NDOA) exists to advance the knowledge and enjoyment of the organ. They belong to the Incorporated Association of Organists, and welcome anyone with an interest in the organ – whether organists or simply those who enjoy the music of the organ.
NDOA work within Northampton and District (stretching into surrounding county borders of Northamptonshire) to advance the knowledge and enjoyment of the organ. They are a registered charity founded in 1921 and belong to the Incorporated Association of Organists, an international organisation with almost 5,000 members and nearly 80 affiliated associations.
The NDOA website includes a wide variety of information about meetings and activities. They offer a wide programme of events throughout the year, including in 2021 hosting the Incorporated Association of Organists’ Midlands Organ Day at St Matthew’s Church, Northampton.
The above event coincides with the celebration of NDOA’s centenary year in 2021. To celebrate the centenary, NDOA have announced two further initiatives, which will be launched via some of the RCO/IAO channels.
1. CENTENARY ORGAN SCHOLARSHIPS
Northampton and District Organists’ Association (NDOA) welcomes applications for a number of organ scholarships to celebrate the Association’s centenary in 2021.
Applications are welcomed from young organists who may be embarking upon the early stages of their playing careers. Scholarships will be awarded after participation in NDOA’s Young Organists Day which takes place at St Mary and St Giles, Stony Stratford on Saturday 15th May 2021 in association with the Buckinghamshire Organists’ Association and the RSCM.

2. CENTENARY COMPOSITION COMPETITION
Northampton and District Organists’ Association (NDOA) welcomes entries to its composition competition for a Fanfare for Organ to celebrate the Association’s centenary in 2021.
Do you compose? Or perhaps you would like to compose for the first time? NDOA are inviting entries from both students and adults to their Centenary Composition Competition. Entrants should compose a short Fanfare for Organ which they hope to publish in a forthcoming Centenary Organ Book.

I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.
