Sometimes it just takes a kick in the backside to draw attention to matters that have passed you by in daily life. I have sat in our Bicester offices for 12 years now. In the early years just occasionally as I was involved in other businesses, but in recent years near full time as the Viscount activity has grown and demanded more of my time.
The increasingly tired and shabby conditions creep up on you and it took our landlords requirement for installation of new windows to really highlight just how tired things had all become. Never one for extravagant spending I found myself spurred into action and a total revamp of the office accommodation has just been completed. The furniture which was second hand when it came here in 2006 was replaced, carpet laid to soften the ceramic tile floor and ‘organ artwork’ in abundance now adorns the walls. A reception area with comfortable guest seating finishes off the the work and I have to accept that this was all well overdue.
We have drawn the line at the archetypal fish tank and I doubt that a flag pole will ever be raised on the lawn outside but I am delighted that if you now visit our otherwise modest Bicester showroom the impression of the offices will be just as good as the impression the instruments inside have always given.
