Early last December we published what turned out to be our most far reaching Facebook Post ever. We were trying to find a new home for a very pretty little pipe organ about to be ejected from a Methodist Chapel that was in the process of conversion into flats (see a picture at the bottom of this post).
We were quite bewildered to find this post reached almost 175,000 helped by a great many shares in the organ and music communities. It was a great success and in less than 2 weeks a new home was found for this instrument.
The Pipe Organ at St Luke’s Church
And here we are again, this time with a bigger challenge but with much more time to find a happy outcome. The organ of St Luke’s Church South Elmsall as you will see from the pictures is a fine-looking instrument and by all accounts it sounds as good as it looks. Sadly, the National Pipe Organ Register has no entry for this instrument so you will have to be guided by the stop jamb pictures as to this instrument’s resources.
Like too many pipe organs this instrument is now at risk as the building is being reordered in the near future to provide more worship space, but we do have until early May to rescue this one. The church is looking for a new home for it, which includes the complete dias and preachers desk if you have the room.
If you think you have a new home for it or could help find one then you need to contact David on david@crch.co.uk. As ever time is of the essence, the instrument needing to be removed by the end of May.
Can you help save this instrument from the skip? You could help by just telling your friends in the music world it is available. Thanks for reading this and lets hope we rescue this instrument as easily as the pipe organ in Bristol just before Christmas.

Pipe Organ in Pill Union Baptist Chapel
I have had a passion for church organs since the tender age of 12. I own and run Viscount Organs with a close attention to the detail that musicians appreciate; and a clear understanding of the benefits of digital technology and keeping to the traditional and emotional elements of organ playing.

What are the measurements of the pipe casework?
We’re looking to get rid of an old screen in favor of visible pipes.
Likely the wooden paneling including Dias and preachers desk could be used as well.
We’re “ready to go” if measurements work.
Thanks!
