It was in August 2025 when we received an email from David Van Rooyen, an organ enthusiast from Durban, South Africa.
He wanted to develop his organ practice and was interested in purchasing a three manual instrument for his home.
David had given a huge amount of thought to his requirements and what the organ would need to provide for him. After much deliberation, and support from the team in Bicester, he decided our Regent 363 was the organ for him.
Our Regent 363 is an impressive three-manual instrument and uses our Physis+ modelling technology. It features 63 speaking stops, five pre-set organ ‘pipe sets’, a floating Solo department, along with sub and super octave couplers.
Organ tailored to his requirements
Once the decision on the instrument was made, the fun part of choosing the final specifications came. David opted for a medium oak finish, a height adjustable bench, and adjustable music desk to complete his desired look, along with a pair of Viscount headphones.
We would normally voice an instrument on-site, but given the distance, we voiced it to David’s specific requirements before we dispatched it off to South Africa.
One of his asks was for the divisional and general pistons in a natural progression from PPP to FFF – that means they were set up in graduated crescendo sequence from very soft to very loud.
9,200 miles to Durban
The instrument left us in Bicester earlier in the year to travel the approximately 9,200 miles to be delivered to David in May of 2026. Here are a few images of the delivery.
