This much loved and recently restored Harmonium/Reed Organ is looking for a new home. It was restored a few years ago by its former owner so in good condition and a lovely piece of furniture.

I am in a dilemma and wonder if you can advise me in any way.
I have two harmoniums; one was my grandmother’s, and I cherish it, and the other has been expelled from its original chapel and , because of threats to take it to the tip , I took it in, several years ago now.
Sadly I am at a crossroads and the church one has to go; my husband is very resistant to keeping both. My attempts to return it to the chapel , my old Sunday School teacher used to play it, have met with stony silence, mostly because the people who run it now have not seen it and have no affection or nostalgia for it.
I know they sell badly online, we even tried, and were offered £10, by the didn’t come to collect it.
It is pretty, with faux organ pipes at the front, but children have been allowed to play with it and two stops are broken. The sounding board has had woodworm but I sealed the holes, and think it works at holding the air in. So, best idea is from parts I guess.
I am so sorry to pester you, but any ideas of what to do would be very much appreciated.

Dear Trisha, Many thanks for your message. It is difficult with harmoniums as they have limited use now and are generally quite bulky items and. as you say, yours is not in the best condition. I’m not really sure what to suggest but you might want to try ebay as they do come up on their from time-to-time. I have also found this UK based Harmonium hire and restoration company.
